According to McAfee, a majority of the malware released in Q3 targeted phone running Android. This should come as no surprise to anyone who has been around this industry for a while. After all, it is the fastest growing environment today with more than 50% of phone bought in the same period running Android.
At the end of 2010, McAfee predicted that malware would reach the 70 million unique samples by the end of 2011 but has increased this prediction to 75 million unique malware samples reached by year’s end, which is the busiest in malware history, says McAfee.
Until the Anti-virus industry starts catching up on the Android platform, the best we can do is be careful of what we download. And don’t forget the factory reset facility
